It was 1996 when we arrived in California to begin a new adventure as the Directors of Shepherd’s Gate. We had already left our corporate careers years before to serve in a ministry which cared for severely emotionally disturbed children, followed by our time at Knox Area Rescue Mission in Tennessee. It was from there we were recruited to lead a new phase of expansion for Shepherd’s Gate in Livermore, CA. That was almost 15 years ago and what an amazing blessing it has been!
We’ll never forget the week in 1998 when we had $130,000 in construction bills due as well as payroll for the staff and we had less than $300 in the bank! We had no savings, no reserve, and no credit. God miraculously provided and within a month we paid all our bills and had money in savings! This is the way we have seen God work throughout the years as we continue to trust Him.We have had the opportunity to meet thousands of women and children, each one of them a special and unique creation of God. To be a part of their lives, their struggles and their successes has been such a privilege.
The other amazing part of our journey here at Shepherd’s Gate involves meeting our supporters. We love getting to know the people who care about the ministry and the women and children we serve. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We could not do this work without your partnership!
We are so excited to see what God has in store for the future! We know it will be awesome and we pray you will continue on this adventure with us.
